Holy Week in Spain

Holy Friday. April 6, 2007. Parade of the Holy Sepulcher. Easter week in Spain, where drum sounds are made made into prayers. The week concludes in Zaragoza with the Parade of the Holy Sepulcher, where more than 15.000 members of the brotherhood begin and end a 5 km. walk from the church of Santa Isabel of Portugal. Justice Square.

A selection of photographs taken in Spain. This portfolio explores Easter, or Pascua, a Spanish holiday celebrated in remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus. At the end of a forty-day fasting period called La Cuaresma, or Lent, La Semana Santa, or Holy Week, takes place and includes daily processions and festivities.
